Good Morning, Ministry Partner!

April 30, 2020

Be Encouraged by God's Word
For though I am absent in body, yet I am with you in spirit, and I rejoice to see your morale and the firmness of your faith in Christ. As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.

  - Colossians 2:5-7, NRSV

Wisdom from Fellow Pilgrims
In our worship we must be careful not to reduce our message to the Easter fact only. The Easter fact must include the message this fact proclaims: God makes all things new. It must also include the message that we have been raised with Christ. Calling God's people to die to sin and rise to the new life is central not only to Easter day but to the Easter season.

Pray Together with Us
O Lord, hedge up my way with thorns, that I may find no path for following vanity.
Hold me in with bit and bridle, lest I fall away from you.
O Lord, compel me to come to you:
   to bruise the serpent’s head,
   to remember my life’s end,
to cut off opportunities for evil,
to be alert, not to sit idle,
   to shun what is evil,
to cling to what is good,
to look at no worthless things,
to bring my body into subjection,
   to devote myself to prayer,
to search my heart with penitence.

New Every Morning: a daily (M-F) encouragement resource for clergy that includes a scriptural start for the day, a thought from a brother/sister of the faith, and a prayer to enrich the service of the minister. It is an inner life component of the Soul Care ministry of the Church of the Nazarene's Clergy Development Office.
