Good Morning, Ministry Partner!

May 16, 2019

Be Encouraged by God's Word
Why do you see the speck in your neighbor’s eye, but do not notice the log in your own eye? Or how can you say to your neighbor, ‘Friend, let me take out the speck in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your neighbor’s eye.

—  Luke 6:41-42, NRSV

Wisdom from Fellow Pilgrims

My concern is not whether God is on our side; my greatest concern is to be on God's side, for God is always right.

Pray Together with Us

Prayer
Lord, I promise I will not run away, not give up, not stop praying, even when it all seems useless, pointless, and a waste of time and effort. I want to let you know that I love you even though I do not feel loved by you, and that I hope in you even though I often experience despair. Let this be a little dying I can do with you and for you as a way of experiencing some solidarity with the millions in this world who suffer far more than I do.

— Henry J. M. Nouwen

New Every Morning: a daily (M-F) encouragement resource for clergy that includes a scriptural start for the day, a thought from a brother/sister of the faith, and a prayer to enrich the service of the minister. It is an inner life component of the Soul Care ministry of the Church of the Nazarene's Clergy Development Office.
